All of us have experienced that awful stiff neck at some point in our life and know just how draining it can be to our bodies, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. Imagine being like that every day? With the use of computers becoming so much more prominent each year and the introduction of lap tops, IPADS and smartphones, the rise of chronic back pain along with neck and shoulder pain injuries is substantial. If the problem is left unattended, and you just put up with the pain, it can lead to severe injuries that are very difficult to treat and lead to other more serious problems. Disc bulges in the neck are becoming very common, and not just limited to old people. The first thing people normally do is take some anti inflammatory pills, perhaps get a massage and maybe do some stretches and hope it goes away. And while all this gives some relief, it is just a short term remedy. It is really just using a band-aid approach to treating a much bigger cut or bleed. In this article, I will provide you with the knowledge on how neck problems are created in the first place, so you can treat the “real problem”, prevent the onset of chronic pain and get rid of it for good.
Improve Your POSTURE Using This Strength Training Workout
We all know that good posture not only looks good, but also allows the body to move with great efficiency free of pain and compensation. Modern living and technology advancement has made many changes to our lifestyle that makes things much easier, unfortunately, it has also come at a cost to our health and in particular our posture. The introduction of computers and jobs requiring us to sit for long periods and more recently IPAD’s and smart phones that people stare at all day in a flexed and hunched position has seen a rapid rise in postural related injuries. We cannot change this evolution to our lifestyle, but we can begin using exercise as a way to counter the damage created from these daily habits. The exercises to use can vary a lot from person to person as we are all unique in our own way and our postures might differ slightly, but generally there is a common theme to all exercises that promote good posture. And that is – they encourage EXTENSION. In this article, I give you some ideas of what to use and an example of a strength workout you could use to improve your posture and prevent the onset of injury and pain.
What Causes TMJ Disorder Jaw Pain & What Can You Do To Treat This Painful Condition?
If you have ever suffered with jaw pain which is more commonly known as TMJD (temporomandibular joint disorder) you will know exactly how painful it can be and disruptive to your daily life. You will also know how frustratingly difficult it is to treat. It is one of the most confusing joints to understand and it is often misdiagnosed and mistreated as the symptoms can mimic other problems, and even the cause of the pain can differ greatly from one person to the next. Like all injuries, finding the “true” cause of the problem is critical for this is what drives the constant pain and dysfunction and until this is identified and changed you will not find any long term relief. Having suffered with this condition myself recently I came to realize just how complex it can be, and it led me on the search for more answers as I struggled to find any treatment that could help. In this article I will explain the various solutions I discovered, and provide you with some unique tips and exercises to get your jaw back to normal.
Why You Should STOP Stretching Your Neck
The neck is one of the most difficult areas to work with as there is so many things that contribute to the onset of pain. Even your thoughts can affect the muscles and create a ton of trigger points and pain! When you consider it is a part of the complex shoulder region you can begin to see why so many people never find an answer to their problems. One of the biggest saboteurs is our instincts to constantly find ways to relieve the pain, instead of finding out WHY the pain is there in the first place. It makes perfect sense as to wanting to find a way to relieve the tension immediately by stretching the area that feels tight, however, when you understand how the neck is reacting to problems elsewhere, you can begin to see how our instincts are betraying us and setting our body up for much bigger problems. In this article, I will explain what the key causes of neck pain are and why stretching the tight neck muscles is not the solution to long term pain.
Why Lack Of Thoracic Mobility Is The Hidden Cause Of Chronic Pain
The numbers of people suffering from chronic back pain and neck pain due to extensive work at a computer or hovering over a mobile device is increasing rapidly. In today’s modern world more people are becoming sedentary, spending at least 10–15 hrs a day at work, in the car, at school, and home in a position of bad posture, that results in stiff hips and stiff thoracic spine. Stiffness in these two joints is a disaster to our joints as we need both of these areas to provide great mobility, in particular with rotation as used in walking. Lack of mobility at these two areas creates problems for joints above and below as the body searches for alternative methods to move. We have been so conditioned to react to injuries by using pain relief methods, as opposed to looking at WHY you got the problem in the first place. The thoracic region is so unique in that it really can create problems all throughout the body but it will not suffer with any pain, and go completely undetected with most treatments. In this article, I am going to explain exactly what happens when you lose thoracic mobility, what causes it, and what you can do to get it back.
How To Fix A Forward Head Posture Using A Combination Of Mobility & Strengthening Exercises
Over the past month I have had several discussions with clients who have severe pain in the neck, migraines, and some with jaw related problems that were all related to the same problem – a forward head posture. As the head moves forward, the neck straightens due to the fact that the body will try to keep the eyes lined up in a horizontal position. This is a necessary compensation to ensure you have good eyesight. Unfortunately, this places a great deal of strain on the neck structures as they need to balance the weight of the head which increases the further the head moves forward. Apart from the obvious neck pain that results from this, if left untreated this poor posture can lead to other chronic problems like migraines, jaw pain, poor breathing, weight gain, and overall poor health. Exercises commonly used to correct this condition can sometimes create more problems than they solve and also may miss out on addressing underlying dysfunctions altogether. In this article, I will share with you some of my best ways to address this all too common problem.
