To kick off the new year we thought it would be pretty cool to provide you with your own Calendar featuring the key aspects needed for a great all round training program. Each month focuses on what we would regard as the critical elements needed for any program, whether it is for general fitness and weight loss, rehabilitation and sports performance.

The Theme For Each Month Is As Follows:

  1. January - This month is all about Goal Setting, defining what you want to do and completing an assessment to identify weaknesses that need to be addressed.
  2. February - This month is the first of seven Key Movement Patterns every program must have. And we start with Bending which is often linked with back pain injuries like disc bulges. Exercises include the Deadlift & bent over row.
  3. March - Next key movement is Pushing. Often linked to weakness with serratus anterior and various shoulder injuries. It is also essential to all ball sports.
  4. April - Squats are the theme for April. Often difficult for people with knee and hip problems and essential for sports requiring jumping like basketball and football.
  5. May - Pulling is the theme for this month and often under trained movement pattern yet very important for preservation of posture and healthy shoulder function.
  6. June - Lunge is our next pattern and this one is possibly the most important for it is a key position needed for activation of the slings. As with the squat often this is hard to do for people with knee pain due to tight hips and quads.
  7. July - Twist is the July theme and this is again another under trained and misunderstood movement pattern. Critical for all sports and like bending is often difficult for people with back pain.
  8. August - Gait is without doubt the most difficult pattern to teach and develop programs  for as it is so complex. But as you can imagine without this you cannot walk or run. Very important for all lower limb and back injury people to improve.
  9. September - This month we now begin to focus not on movements but abilities. And this month we look at Stability and Flexibility.
  10. October - This month is all about Speed and Agility key components to all ball sports.
  11. November - Endurance is the flavour of the month for November and using running, cycling, swimming along with various strength endurance workouts.
  12. December - Last but not least we focus on Strength & Power. You can never stop adding muscle and trying to improve your overall strength and coordination with complex tasks and skills.
