Exercise is one of the safest, most effective ways to prevent and treat chronic diseases such as heart disease? We all sort of know that exercise is good for us but for many people they still think “that won’t happen to me”. Yet for many of the people who I meet for the first time in my studio it is now because of health problems, not weight loss! In this article we explore what exercise is the best and even what is best to do as you get older. For over 13 years we have been working with people of all ages overcome injury and disease by using simple nutrition and exercise strategies. These same methods used to help get them out of trouble are also the methods used to prevent getting heart disease. The best part is these have no horrible side effects that are common to medication prescriptions. The side effects of this program are weight loss, more energy, stronger muscles and improved fitness. Who wouldn't want that?

One of the best things I have ever introduced into my diet was fresh vegetable juicing. Recently I purchased a new juice machine so that I could get a wide range of vegetables to help detoxify my skin. For over 20 years I have suffered with Psoriasis, an autoimmune disease that causes cells to build up on the surface of your skin, leading to thick, unsightly scaly patches that are very itchy and often painful. This type of disease leads to vitamin and mineral deficiency and I needed to find a way to increase my intake of green leafy vegetables in order to detoxify my skin. Almost every health authority recommends that we get 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruits per day, yet most people are lucky to get half that. One easy way to virtually guarantee that you will reach your daily target for vegetables, is juicing. However, you need to be cautious with fruit juices, especially if you are over-weight or diabetic, as these foods have a high sugar and fructose content that can cause more problems. The exception to this rule would be lemons and limes, which have virtually none of the offending sugar and fructose levels that cause most of the metabolic complications. Also lemons and limes are amazing at eliminating the bitter taste of the dark, deep green leafy vegetables that provide most of the benefits of juicing, for example Kale.
